Sometimes we have to be resourceful when our favorite products are not at hand. GAEL offers you 10 tips for dealing with the little inconveniences of everyday life.
1- DEODORANT FOR SWEATY BREASTS
In summer and winter alike, we sometimes sweat in places that are a little less common than our armpits… Like under our breasts, for example! And let’s face it, it’s never fun to see your favorite blouse with sweat stains all over it. The solution is simple: apply your antiperspirant or deodorant under your breasts! But be sure to choose one without perfume, to avoid any irritation. It also works well when applied between your thighs to avoid chafing in summer.
2- BODY MILK AS A MAKEUP REMOVER
You’re away on vacation, but you forgot your favorite makeup remover? Don’t panic, every hotel usually has a product that can do the trick… Head to the bathroom: use the body lotion offered by the hotel as a makeup remover. But keep in mind that this is a last resort: these milks are often too scented to be used regularly. But if you really have no choice, wet your face and apply the body lotion to your face with a towel, and you’re done!
3- FACE POWDER AS A DRY SHAMPOO
If you don’t have any dry shampoo on you, know that your loose face powder will work just as well. Choose a clear powder, or you’ll end up with floury-looking hair.
4- EYESHADOW ON YOUR HAIR
Have a few small areas of your scalp that are sparse and show off your head? Gently apply a little matte eyeshadow in the same shade as your hair to those areas. Your hair will instantly look fuller!
5- TOOTHPASTE ON PIMPLES
Here’s a little trick that’s quite controversial… Be aware that it’s not for everyone, it depends on your skin type and its sensitivity. Make sure you test this tip on a small part of your face. All is well? Perfect, then apply a small dot of toothpaste on your pimples and leave it overnight. Be careful: use simple white toothpaste, not toothpaste with particles.
6- A LITTLE BRUSH TO BLEND YOUR EYEBROWS
Have you succumbed to the trend of hyper-structured eyebrows that you draw with a pencil (or powder)? Use a brush to blend the pencil/powder to avoid ending up with two big caterpillars instead of eyebrows! The brush will help soften the lines and better blend the material.
7- AVOID MASCARA CLUMPS
Applying mascara to your lower lashes is a little tricky… If you have very long lower lashes, remove the excess mascara from the brush by rubbing it against the tube opening. This will prevent clumping! Another tip is to apply mascara in a zigzag motion rather than brushing the lashes. Then use your finger to blend in the lash line.
8- SCENTED DRYER VEILS
Use scented dryer veils in your shoes to prevent odor. Perfect for freshening up your sneakers and making your gym bag smell like “sea breeze” instead of sweat!
Also use them to calm electric hair and frizz: run the veils gently through your hair vertically, from top to bottom.
9- SHAMPOO TO CLEAN BRUSHES
If you don’t feel like buying a special product to clean your makeup brushes, we have the perfect solution! Use your regular shampoo to clean them, it is just as effective. Make sure to return the brushes to their natural shape after washing and let them air dry. Do this regularly: not washing your brushes can give you pimples!
10- HAND SOAP TO CLEAN BEAUTY BLENDERS
A few drops of hand soap on your beauty blenders will get you far! Apply it to your sponge and rinse it off with clean water. This will save you a lot of money on cleaning products. Avoid soaps with exfoliating beads as they may disintegrate your sponge.
